Selon nos confrères de i24News, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a laissé entendre jeudi que “Jérusalem appartenait à la Turquie”, faisant référence au contrôle de l’Empire ottoman sur la ville pendant une grande partie de l’ère moderne.

“Dans cette ville que nous avons dû quitter en larmes pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, il est encore possible de croiser des traces de la résistance ottomane. Donc Jérusalem est notre ville”, a-t-il déclaré aux législateurs turcs lors d’un important discours politique à Ankara.

“La question de Jérusalem n’est pas un problème géopolitique ordinaire pour nous. En effet, l’aspect physique actuel de la vieille ville, qui est le cœur de Jérusalem, a été imaginé par Soliman le Magnifique, avec ses murs, son bazar et ses nombreux bâtiments,” a précisé le président turc.

Le peuple palestinien vit à Jérusalem “depuis des milliers d’années, mais ses droits ont été violés”, a-t-il conclu.
